The Process
The preservation
of your flowers is accomplished through a process called freeze-drying
that removes all of the water from the flower in the form of
a water vapor. Through this process, shrinkage is mimimized
and the results are far superior to other methods of drying
and preservation. I have state of the art equipment that has
been specifically designed for the floral industry. Flowers
are pre and post treated with chemicals that help to stabilize
color, durability, and longevity. Not all flowers and foliage
preserve well, and there are a number of factors that may
affect the final outcome.
The final product will be dependant on the freshness of the
flowers, their variety and condition when received. Roses,
Carnations,
Hydrangea,
Lilies,
Gardenias,
Freesia,
Queen Anne's Lace,
Delphinium,
Larkspur
and Stephanotis
all dry well. Daisies,
Crysanthemums,
Stock
and Bouvardia
all have small petal attachments and may not freeze-dry well.
Greenery also does not preserve well. There may be some color
variation from the original color.
It is a good idea to make arrangements with someone to deliver
your flowers to us within 24 hours.
In the meantime, place the bouquet or flowers in a plastic bag
and refrigerate or put them into a cooler. If using a cooler,
place a towel or other divider between the flowers and the ice
or freeze paks. Place the bouquet or flowers on top. If the
flowers have natural stems, they should be placed in water to
keep them hydrated. Arrangements for the preservation of your
flowers should be made in advance by calling (410)
252-5345, to insure space in the
freeze-dry machine. If arrangements are not made in advance,
please call as soon as possible after the event. |
